Announcing the first ever joint drive with the Mustang Wranglers car club (a very active group of car enthusiasts). This is a May 2nd Drive-Out featuring a drive to Rockaway, Oregon and a train ride pulled by a steam engine.

* Purchase your Spring Splendor train tickets here:
– scroll down to the Spring Splendor Excursion, click “Book Now,” BE SURE to book on May 2nd for the 11 AM tour (on the calendar that shows on the “Book Now” page), select the rail car you want to ride in (NOTE: we will be able to move around the train once it is underway as long as it is not sold out)
* Arrive at the North Plains McDonald’s (9975 NW Glencoe Rd, North Plains, Oregon) by 7 AM Saturday, May 2nd
* Departure from McDonald’s is 7:15 AM
* Expected arrival for breakfast at Camp 18: Approximately 8:15 AM
* Expected drive time to Oregon Coast Scenic Railway station in Rockaway is 1 hour
* NOTE: Oregon Hwy. 53 needs attention from ODOT – some cars that sit lower *may* scrape their chins in certain sections of the road, caution and lower speeds are advised on this road. Miami-Foley road from Oregon 53 to US 101 in Garibaldi is much better than Oregon 53, but some areas are bumpy
* We need to arrive in Rockaway by approximately 10:30 AM
* Steam train excursion departs from Rockaway Station at 11 AM
* The round trip from Rockaway to Wheeler and return to Rockaway is about 2 hours 15 minutes
* There is a Pelican Pub within walking distance from the Rockaway train station
* Rockaway weather forecast is for partly cloudy and a high temperature of 61 degrees
* Daily Drivers are okay if you don’t want to bring your favorite car – the idea is to have fun and meet new friends
* Participants are free to find their own lunch venue at the end of the train ride then find your way to other adventures on the coast or just head home
