Matthew Nowak’s Geological tour of the great Missoula floods – October 24th

huge, bedrock boulder which was carried here from hundreds of miles away

Regarding the October 24th. “Geological signs of the great Missoula floods tour”. Initially conceived  by Rick and Sylvia Thompson,  with Nearly all the planning by Dr. Tod Tolan.  My deepest thanks to them.

Fields-Bridge-Park

We will gather and start from the Fields Bridge Park, 821 Willamette Falls Drive, West Linn, OR. (Time TBA) and travel through the upper Willamette Valley.  There shall be several stops to observe such as, floodwater flow channels, current caused ripples, glacial erratics and other signs left on our landscape by repeated flooding, up to 400 ft thousands of years ago. There will be one stop which will require a short, uphill (2/10th mile) hike to observe a huge, bedrock boulder which was carried here from hundreds of miles away. Approximately  90-110 miles.  Lunch venue TBA.  Weather depending, “lesser” marques other than Jaguar are, as always welcome.  Watch the website for updates, or contact me directly.
